Always good food! Friendly waitresses, in the ball. If you frequent them often they remember your drink if choice and almost have it at your table before you sit down!

Stopped in today while visiting the area and this family-owned restaurant was amazing. Staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was some of the best I've ever had. I had the country style steak with okra & tomatoes, creamed potatoes, and banana pudding and I wish we had a place like this back home.

Good food & service. My first time eating there. Family atmosphere. They've been in business a while it seems.

This is a typical meat & three set up that appears to be family owned. There is a wide open dining room and several tables are set up to seat 6-8 people such that sometimes the tables may be shared. They have an active drive-through business, as well as counter order take out and regular table service. It is a bit dated, both interior and exterior, but that is because it has likely been here and in business for a while. There is an older couple next to me, probably in their mid to late 80's and looking like this is a regular part of their day. Several people are greeting one another as they make their way to a table. Clearly, this spot has a place in the community. "Seat yourself, they will find you," I was told. And they did. I ordered one of the Thursday choice of specials, which were chicken fried steak, chicken livers or chicken fingers, pick one, and my selection was chicken fried steak. Then a choice of one, two or three vegetables or sides and my choice was squash casserole and mashed potatoes with gravy. It comes with a roll or cornbread, and, of course that is a no-brainer, must choose cornbread. Thankfully, the cornbread was more on the savory side than the sweeter side, so that is a very big plus. My drink was just water, but I received a large glass, probably 20 ounces, another plus since you won't be waiting on refills as much. Country fried steak portion was a bit smaller, but that is fine for lunch. Covered in mushroom gravy that tasted just like one would expect in a meat and three. Potatoes were creamy. Squash casserole had zucchini and yellow squash and seemed to have a slight amount of cheese - it was different, but good. Service was attentive. Table was kind of sticky, but more of the sticky from being old than from being unclean - just a little "tack" to it. The best part, total bill all in was $6.94. That is a pretty good bargain. And, I was in and out of there in less than 25 minutes. It is a 10-15 minute drive from work to get here. It's not somewhere I would regularly rush to get to, but it is not bad for the service, decent food and priced right.

We had a great dinner here Friday night. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive and personable. As I've stated before, I have been coming to Athas for most of my life, and I have also recommended it to many people. I look forward to many more visits to come! Thanks, Athas!

This is actually an update from a review I did 2 years ago. The owners made soMe much needed changes (not to the food) the food has always been spot on. They got rid of the two annoying damn near worthless waitresses they had and what do ya know? Service improved 100 fold! This is my 3rd trip back since they've made the change and I waited to make this update on purpose. They are back where they should be in my book!! Will continue to support them once again.
